Notes on meeting at the Dodington Lodge Hotel on 17th   August 2011

Eight committee members attended the meeting with two apologies.  It was nice to welcome Peter Wagstaffe along for part of the meeting.  He is having withdrawal symptoms. The ecology report has been received and the only protected species to concern us is the presence of water voles.  It was suggested that the graded bank of the basin be moved back slightly further away
from the brook.
It was decided to get an artist's impression of the basin to make it easier for people to understand what is being planned and would be easier for them to make comments.  It is hoped it will be available for the boat rally and the Blackberry Fair.  It was decided to do away with the slipway to have an extra mooring.
The committee have been invited to the September council meeting to give a short presentation after the press report.  Alison had posted about 50 letters in local letter boxes which explained the basin plan and asking for comments.  Very few were returned which is good that most people are supportive.  In view of comments it was decided to change the picnic area into a seating area.
Ken suggested draining the arm to enable the silt to be removed and will investigate the possibilities.  A request has been received to install a memorial bench along the arm which was approved.
