LITTER PICK  March 13th 2011

Twenty three people turned up for the litter pick on Sunday March 13th. The sun shone and the temperature was warm.  There was a good mixture of WWT members, Leonard Bros Veterinary Practice and other locals.  The children had their own pickers for the first time which they waved around brilliantly.

We collected 25 bags of rubbish, one bicycle (brake stuck on), one bathroom sink (damaged), one white plastic garden chair (broken), and half a tent.  Bags full of bottles and cans and the inevitable plastic bags of dog poo.  We even found a sign that was erected by Leonard Bros last year when they had a day collecting dog poo (some people know how to have fun) and which had disappeared by the next day.

I would like to thank all those people who voluntarily gave their time to improve the area along the Sandstone Trail, Chemistry car park, the canal arm and the footpaths above the Country Park.  I am also grateful to Shropshire Council for providing the pickers, gloves, jackets and bags and for collecting the rubbish afterwards.  Great service.
